It's ON Baby!!

I finally have the books and that familiar feeling from January came rushing back in. Man I can get used to this. There have been many momentous occasions so far in my life and aside from my wedding, the birth of my children, and immigrating to America this has to be right up there.

There is that swelling feeling of pride when you look at the finished product. Being an artist is about expressing yourself as a unique individual. A calling with a deeply personal agenda in pursuit of one's true artistic identity. This is why so many in animation branch out into self-publishing. Working in the business means collaboration and collectivity and the natural antithesis is to hole up and indulge in your own ideas.

I would like to think that we modern artists are no different from the masters of old in a sense that at the end of the day, all we want to do is sit in a room by ourselves, with our tools and our gadgets and make tangible, graphical representations of our rambling thoughts. If nothing else, for that particular moment.... we know why we exist. This is what we where born to do.

In less than a day some of the most amazing talent in the world will converge in San Diego. All with the expressed intention of finally sharing something deeply personal with the rest of the world. It is a social event for artists like no other and I am filled with tremendous anticipation and excitement. This indeed is what it's all about.

Here's to a wild and successful Comic-Con!!!

A bunch of artists where nice enough to include me and my books in their Comic-Con previews! My deepest gratitude to all of them, my fellow guildpeople!!. Here's the list so far:

Big bro Ronnie del Carmen in TIRADE
