Gesture Class 2

Here are some sketches from Gesture Drawing class today. I think the poses I drew in the previous class where a bit stronger and had more character. Overall I still need to work on pushing my sketches even more. A dash of caricature would help as well.

I added the tones later for clarity and emphasis.

I think my favorite is the second image in the top line of images :) That one for me has the most character for me :)These are all very nice anyway!
I think if you want to make your sketches stronger, maybe use a thinner line over a thicker one? It might just be my personal taste, but I feel the sketches with the thinner lines had more life and movement to them...I think maybe the thick line distracts more then it does compliment your lovely figure drawing :) Like it doesnt have as much shape and form (I hope you dont mind me saying this!)

Thank you David, Dominic and Anson! Love your all of your work as well!

Amelia - I'm sure you'll have plenty of drawing classes to choose from at CalArts. If not, there are so many around the L.A. area to choose from.

Theorah - I think it really boils down to preference. I actually think that the chisel tipped pen sketches are stronger because they are a little more focused and the even line weight is more pleasing. But the thinner, pencil sketches make up for the lack of defined line with energy. So really, it's the best of both worlds! Thanks for your nice comments!
